Driveway FAQs

How long does a concrete driveway last?

With proper installation and basic maintenance, a concrete driveway can last 30 years or more. The key factors are proper base preparation, correct thickness, quality concrete mix, and control joints to manage cracking.

How thick should a concrete driveway be?

Standard residential driveways are typically 4 inches thick. For heavier vehicles like RVs or trucks, we recommend 5-6 inches. The edges should be thickened to handle turning stress.

How long before I can drive on a new driveway?

We recommend staying off the concrete for at least 7 days for foot traffic and 10 days for vehicles. Full cure takes about 28 days, so avoid heavy loads during this period.

Is concrete better than asphalt for driveways?

Concrete costs more upfront but lasts significantly longer and requires less maintenance. Asphalt needs resealing every 2-3 years and typically lasts 15-20 years. Concrete is the better long-term value.

Can you pour concrete over my existing driveway?

In most cases, we recommend removing the old driveway. Pouring over existing concrete can lead to bonding issues and uneven settling. A fresh start with proper base preparation ensures the best results.

What finish options are available?

We offer broom finish (textured for traction), exposed aggregate (decorative stones), stamped patterns (brick, stone, slate), and colored concrete. We can help you choose the best option for your home's style.
